KTK, established in 1985, is a full subsidiary of state owned Curaçao Ports Authority N.V. (CPA). KTK is responsible for all harbor towage, mooring launch – and pilot transport operations in all Curaçao deep sea ports. KTK has two tugboats permanently stationed in Curaçao which are available on a 24/7 basis to assist all vessels calling the ports of Curaçao. If required, KTK can also deploy within 24 hours additional tugboats from its operations in Aruba and Bonaire. Our other tugs are available to the international maritime and offshore industry for towage jobs or time charters.
KTK’s head office and operational departments are close to the tugs at Jan Baarda kade Scharloo under the Juliana bridge.
As a state owned company KTK is aware of its social responsibility towards the community of Curaçao. The company responds by taking special interest in community projects and by engaging in projects that guarantees sustainability.
KTK provides jobs for approximately 75 maritime professionals and office staff. Not only the crew on board the tugs (captains, engineers, AB’s) and mooring launches (mooring boat operators) but also office staff in technical-, nautical, HR-, financial and general management positions.
The 1st of October 1985 marked the beginning of Kompania di Tou Korsou (KTKtugs) as the only tugboat provider on the island of Curacao. With the departure of the Shell, the tugboats working for this private entity were no longer needed so this was a nice opportunity to start the island’s own tugboat company. The government back than authorized Curacao Ports Authority to be the owner of the starting tug company.
Since then is KTKtugs a state owned company supervised by Curacao Ports Authority. The company has evolved from local harbor towage operations in Curaçao to a regionally operating company. The company expanded its services within the Caribbean Region by engaging in towage and salvage jobs, chartering, and most recently, emergency response for oil spill Tier 1. KTK Tugs’ fleet consists of 8 tugboats and 4 pilot boats.

KTK is a professional maritime service provider in the nautical chain of vessel traffic management in the deep sea ports of Curaçao. KTK is adding value to the professionalism and quality of the Curaçao ports in general and thereby to the development of the island and people of Curaçao.
KTK is fully aware of its social responsibility towards the community. The company not only fulfills its role as a provider of jobs, but has participated in projects which main goals are environmental preservation. These efforts are acknowledge by Lloyd’s Organization with the ISO certification. Furthermore KTK engages within projects that are dedicated to the education and wellbeing of the Curaçao’s youth and projects that focusses on future development of the harbor and the community in general.
KTK owns and operates eight tugboats with bollard pull ranging from 10 to 70 tons. Two tugboats are dedicated to harbor towage services in the sea ports of Curaçao.
Six tugboats operate on the international market.
For pilot transport and line handling purposes, KTK has three launches and one modern pilot tender.
